History
wastenotIOWA was created in 2006 in Marion, Iowa by a group of civic leaders concerned about the location of an expanded county landfill in their community. Instead of re-acting by fighting the expansion, alternatives needed to be sought out and positively presented. As the debate progressed it became apparent that alternatives to landfilling were indeed available. Information was gathered and a need for educating the public on landfill hazards and alternatives was realized. A corporation was form and status as a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation was filed.
After considerable research, one technology caught the vision of the organization above others. Plasma arc technology which basically eliminated solid waste in an environmentally friendly way and produced a net positive energy resources was that technology. Members of wastenotIOWA have been educating the public through speakers at organizations, attending energy fairs and meeting with governmental bodies. wastenotIOWA is pleased with the interest it has received and encouraged to help make plasma arc facilities a preferred method of solid waste disposal.
